Royal closing at global child labour conference in World Forum

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands attend the closing of the two-day international conference against child labour (‘The Hague Global Child Labour conference 2010, Towards a World without Child Labour, Mapping the Road to 2016’) on the 11th of May in the World Forum.

Mr. Piet Hein Donner, the Minister of Social Affairs and Employment, was the organisator of the conference together with the International Labour Organization (ILO). The conference was visited by 380 participants from 80 countries Those present include government officials from Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, India and the Netherlands, representatives of employer and employee organizations from various countries, non-governmental organizations and international organizations as UNICEF and UNESCO.

The purpose of the conference is to emphasize once again the importance of the fight against child labour and to reach concrete agreements about eradicating the worst forms of child labour by 2016. Such as work that is inevitably harmful to their health and safety, as well as the deployment of children as soldiers, in the sex industry or in illegal activities like drugs trade.

The subject of this conference includes with the company profile of the World Forum as an international convention center for peace and justice, that locates events that have a bearing on the entire world, “Events that shape the World”.
